Not only will it feel that much better to drive, it will help prevent stains and discoloration on your car’s interior, and it will prevent bad smells from developing.

In this post, we’re not going to cover the basics like vacuuming your car’s carpets. That’s a little too obvious.

How To Clean Your Car’s Headliner

It doesn’t happen often, but here and there a stain can get into your car’s headliner. It can be a bit annoying to look up and see the stain from that coffee you spilled the other day.

Thankfully, there are ways to get rid of stains in your headliner without having to take your car to a detailing shop.

We usually recommend using a little bit of automotive carpet or upholstery cleaner that you can typically find at your local auto parts store.

The key with this process is that you don’t want to spray a ton of it on your headliner. If you’re not careful, and put too much on the headliner it can cause the adhesive to weaken. This can cause the headliner to sag over time.

Use a microfiber towel, apply a little bit of the upholstery cleaner to the towel, and then lightly work the upholstery cleaner into the headliner.

It might take a little bit, but over time you should be able to work the stain out or at least reduce it.

How To Get Rid Of Stains

Similarly to getting rid of stains in a headliner, you will want to use either upholstery or carpet cleaner.

In many cases though, you won’t have to worry too much about the amount that you’re using if you’re cleaning a carpet or a seat. You obviously don’t want to completely soak the upholstery because that will take a long time to dry.

To work out stains in upholstery you’ll need the cleaner that you’ve chosen, a soft bristled brush, and a couple of towels.

Apply the cleaner to the stains that you want to get rid of, let it sit for a moment, and then work it in lightly with the brush. Don’t work it in too hard, because you don’t want to damage your upholstery with the brush.

Once you’ve worked it in, you can remove any excess and dry it off with the towels. Continue this process until you’ve reduced the stain or removed it.

In some cases, some more heavy duty equipment might be needed to get rid of stains. We usually recommend talking to a professional that offers car detailing in Salem Oregon to work out larger stains.

How To Get Rid Of Pet Hair

Pet hair can be a real pain to  get rid of. It works its way into the carpets, sticks to seats, and there’s usually so much of it that it feels like it’s never ending.

There’s a couple of tools we recommend to help make pet hair removal much easier.

If you have access to one, a shop vac is a must for pet hair removal. This is because they usually have much better suction power, and can remove the pet hair much easier.

On top of that, we recommend using an attachment that has a brush on the end of it. This will help to work the pet hair out of the carpet so that the vacuum can get to it much more easily.

If the pet hair doesn’t want to work its way out of a car’s carpet, using a softer wire brush or a stiffer plastic brush can be good to loosen some of it up.

Sometimes, the pet hair can work its way into the fibers and get tangled up. Vacuums can’t always get to it and remove it. Because of that, we need to use something a little extra to get those hairs out.

Conclusion
